As well as new store fit-outs, we were involved in an extensive nationwide re-branding programme to refurbish those branches that had been inherited when Dillons and Waterstones came under the same management. This store in Kingston was transformed from a dark and gloomy 3rd level location in the Bentalls shopping centre into a bright and bustling destination.

Our objective was to unify the estate, by developing a cladding solution for the existing cherry and grey Dillon’s bookcases and the Waterstones’ black bookcases. Simple white panels that incorporated asymmetric wash lighting and served to brighten the interior, whilst minimising visual clutter. The new shelving treatment was complimented by new tables and a back-lit feature display for ‘best sellers’ in front of house.

Our objective was to create a unified look for the estate that would allow Waterstones to make use of the inherited mixture of cherry, grey and black bookcases across all 300 stores. We designed simple white cladding panels that incorporated asymmetric wash lighting and served to brighten the interior, whilst minimising visual clutter. The new shelving treatment was complimented by new tables and a back-lit feature display for ‘best sellers’ in front of house.
